Once we got to Labor and delivery they checked me and yes it was my water. I was still only 1cm dilated maybe 1.5 from the last 3 weeks. No real contractions starting. So once we got situated in the birthing room I started to do a ton of walking. Had maybe 3 contractions that kinda hurt but nothing was happening... at 2 they were saying we should try and get things going a little faster thinking it was going to take a long time since I was not dilating! I was a little bummed since I wanted to do everything as natural as possible! But they started some pitocin (a very little amount) and instantly my contractions started! and Boy let me tell you I was in the worst pain ever! I never expected it to feel like that... I just rolled over on my side and grabbed the bed rail super hard to get through each one! while my husband was rubbing my back! they checked me maybe 30 min after they started the pitocin and I was 3 cm not even 2 hours passed and I was already past 6 cm. 3 hours after I got the dose of pitocin I was 10 cm with just a little lip of cervix left! They then had me get on my hands and knees and push a little to get that lip of cervix to open up. I did maybe 2 pushes that way, and they were like turn around were going to have this baby now!
Let me tell you.... Pushing was amazing! It felt so good! I did a few good pushes I cant remember exactly how many but not even 17 minutes later.... Out came baby Myles! His cord was wrapped around him a little bit but he was fine! they put him right up on me and instantly he just started peeing on me! It was so cute! I was like HES PEEING! and then like 2 min later not even.. he started peeing on me again! It was so adorable! He weighed 5 lb 3 oz & 18.5 inches long! His apgar scores were 9 and 9.
But as soon as he came out, my blood pressure shot way up! I mean way way up! where they started getting very concerned about me having seizures and other problems! They had to get me on IV's and magnesium right away and I was bed ridden so I need a catheter and things on my legs for blood clotting! I was not able to eat anything and I could only have limited water/ice chips each hour (the amount of a urine specimen cup) So the next 2 days were pretty miserable. But now I am doing better! and was able to go home that saturday!
Myles was jaundice too since our blood types were different I was O+ and he was A- we had to have a billyblanket dropped off at home for him to be under the special lights! and every day we had to get his blood drawn to check his levels. But his levels finally started going down so he does not need the lights any more! I am so happy!
But other then mommy doing bad after birth, everything was amazing! The birth was nothing like I imagined! I thought it was going to be a lot worse, and it really was not bad at all! The dr's said my actual labor was only 3 1/2 hours long with only 17 minutes of pushing and said if I have any more kids that I would need to get to the hospital right away for how fast I went!
